Docking, North Norfolk
You’ll be staying in Docking. It’s a small village near the north Norfolk coast, just five miles inland from Brancaster and 5 miles from the Georgian market town of Burnham Market. If you need supplies, there is a well-stocked Spar shop with cash machine. It is open from 06.00 – 22.00 seven days a week, other than Sundays when it opens at 07.00. To walk to the Spar turn right out of Sextons Yard and right again at the Docking village sign. Or if you’re driving take the next right (the first is no entry).
If you’re feeling peckish there is a very good fish and chip shop here. “Docking Fish Bar” is a 5 minute walk from the house (turn right out of Sextons Yard).
You’ll find Ripper Hall a bit further along from the fish bar. On Monday nights there’s a Pizza Van there from 5pm – 8pm. It does the most delicious homemade pizzas. Then every Wednesday it hosts the Farmers market. It’s well worth a visit to stock up on local produce such as fruit, vegetables, bread, cakes etc.
If you have young children with you, there is a wonderful park here too. It has a children’s playground with swings and slides. Plus tennis courts, basket ball courts, cricket pitch, football ground and bowling green. Lots of fun for little ones.
